Malahide Demesne Regional Park playground
Back Road, Malahide Demesne, Malahide, Co. Dublin
Review
Malahide Demesne Regional Park playground is very similar to me to the playground located in Newbridge Demesne. It is big, spacious and there is a lot to do for older and younger kids, too. The zip lines and the huge climbing frames are exciting and challenging even for teens, whereas the big sand pit, the safe slide unit, the swings and the springers are entertaining even for the youngest babies. Not to mention the picnic tables scattered in the playground which come handy for tired and sleep-deprived parents... (However, if your 4-5-year-old's favourites are the slides, you will be in trouble, because the toddler slide will be too short for him, but he will not be able to climb up to the giant slide alone. Yikes!)
If the weather is fine, it is great to take a pleasant walk on one of the several pedestrian paths of the estate, but if you prefer, you can tour the walled gardens and visit the interactive garden exhibition as well. http://www.malahidecastleandgardens.ie/ If the weather is rough, do not be desperate: you can still visit the brand new visitor centre, gift shop, foodhall and cafe; while if you are interested in history (and the kids are old enough to join you) you can tour one of the oldest castles in Ireland and visit the new interactive exhibition.
